I’d like to share a book project we started a few months ago. The motivating idea was this: many statistical and econometric concepts can be better understood through simulations and by interacting with them — complementing the traditional approach based on derivations and formulas.
Simulating models is a powerful way to develop intuition, and it’s a key skill for any data project.
The concept behind the book is that each topic comes with its own interactive dashboard, where users can experiment with different assumptions and instantly see their effects through visualizations.
Some initial dashboards are already available on the project site, along with a roadmap of topics we’re working on or planning to cover.
This is a work in progress, and we’re constantly adding new features, so I’ll be sharing updates along the way. Feedback is welcome. Let me hear your comments if you have tried to use any of these dashboards in class. Feel free to comment here or on the project’s GitHub.

Les cuento sobre un proyecto de libro que comenzamos hace ya algunos meses. La idea que lo motivó fue la siguiente: muchos conceptos estadísticos y econométricos se pueden comprender mejor usando simulaciones e interactuando con ellas, complementando así el enfoque tradicional basado en derivaciones y fórmulas.
Simular modelos es una forma poderosa de desarrollar intuición, y es una habilidad clave para cualquier proyecto de datos.
La propuesta del libro es que cada tema tenga su propio panel interactivo, donde se puedan experimentar distintos supuestos y ver al instante sus efectos a través de visualizaciones.
Ya hay unos primeros paneles disponibles en el sitio del proyecto,
