Ricardo A. Pasquini

I am an economist working across research, teaching, and data science, with faculty positions at Universidad Austral and the School of Government at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (UTDT), where I’ve been involved since 2007.

My research centers on the economics of digital markets, financial innovation, and emerging technologies, along with quantitative methods — particularly the use of econometrics and machine learning to evaluate causal effects and support algorithmic decision-making. This work feeds into Econometrics with Simulations, an interactive book that teaches econometric concepts through simulation, aimed at students and practitioners.

I hold a Ph.D. in Management (Finance track) from IAE Business School (Summa Cum Laude) and a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from UTDT. My applied work has included projects with institutions such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, and consulting on economic damages and data forensics. I’m also the founder of Beta Sigma, a data science and applied-research consultancy — see the Beta Sigma site for that work.
